I've been wrestling lately with a new Bravia HD TV and Bluray player that my father bought. When I bring the kids over to visit, it doesn't take them long to get bored and start tearing the place apart. I brought a USB Hard Disk over with a ton of the kids' favorite movies on it only to be disappointed when the TV or Player both said they couldn't read it.
I tried a number of this so called easy DLNA server software apps for Mac OS X and none of them really worked all that well. Sure there were lots of nice remotes but the media servers we mostly lacking.
Until I ran in to Playback by Yazsoft. I installed it on my Dad's iMac and Voila! Not only did it quickly convert videos by automatically asking and installing the perian plugin, it was a cinch to setup with it's easy control panel. Totally recommend this app to anyone with a mac and a DLNA TV.
