Went to my first Japanese wedding last week on Wednesday. Mami’s mother’s sister’s son was getting married.

Mami & I all dressed up. That’s actually the first suit I’ve ever owened in my life. I’ve had lots of jackets and slacks, but never a full-blown real suit. Was kinda fun to get all dressed up.

Syota (Mami’s cousin from Niihama) and me. He’s the guy I will hopefully open the new cafe/bar/grill with if we can work out our partnership terms. We’re getting a bit hung up on commision or pay for my menu items since they are entirely unique to the city. We’ll get there eventually.

The wedding couple.
I have to say, it was interesting attending a Japanese version of a ‘western’ wedding. Most of it was the same, but a lot of it seemed hollow as they were doing things that I’m sure they didn’t really understand the significance of. Other parts were unique to Japan. For instance, the couple sitting alone at the head table in the photo above with the signature mark of a Karaoke tune being sung by a family member over on the right.
It was a nice time. Mami’s Dad got pulled over by a cop for a speeding ticket while driving us all home later that evening. That sucked. I have a photo of it somewhere that I’ll post soon.
Typhoo 14 is here. Lots of wind and rain making it a bit hard to sleep last night.
We’re supposed to go to Kyushu tomorrow for a wedding, but the big bridges connecting us with the mainland are all closed. We’ll see how things look tomorrow…

Why do we say TyphooN and Japanese people say Typhoo? Charlie’s post as the answer.
I thought Todd had a neat link on his site for animated sattalite photos, but I can’t find the link.
So the fiber guys came today to finish off the job. VERY EXCITING for me.
They were a bit late, and had a few problems (a car ran over their spool of fiber, then it broke inside the house and they had to do it all over again) but the job was done.
And here I am still using the slow dial-up connection downstairs because apparently we need a providor to go with our fiber. I guess it’s kinda like getting a phone line from the phone company but then changing your long distance providor to someone else.
I have the fiber, I have the link, but no username. It uses PPP0E … soemthing I’ve never used before. Hopefully I can figure it all out.
Signed up for Asahi-Net and should have a username to log into this winderful fiber next week sometime. I hope.
Coffee provides more than just a morning jolt; that steaming cup of java is also the number one source of antioxidants in the U.S. diet, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Scranton (Pa.). Their study was described today at the 230th national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society
I don’t know if things have improved back home with Telus Mobility, but I remember when things were really screwed up.
I was originally a ClearNet customer but then Telus bought them and my cell was never the same….
Jurgen had this link up on his site, and I couldn’t help but post it up too.
PostSecret is a nifty place where people have sent a postcard with their dirty secret annonomously. These postcards are posted up on the internet for people to read. It’s neat to see all the different secrets and artwork.
